Facebook Friends

Facebook is such an interesting phenomenon. When I started college, you could only have a Facebook profile if you had a legitimate college e-mail address. Now anyone and everyone can join Facebook, making it a pivotal part of how we communicate and build relationships.

Not only can you keep in touch with friends, but you can also keep tabs on people who you might have only met in passing, or people you haven’t even met in person (like your 4th grade pen pal)!

All this is great, don’t get me wrong – it’s really cool that I can keep in touch with my 4th grade pen pal. But, do you think Facebook is eliminating our personal contacts? Do you think our obsession with online conversation will affect our personal contacts outside of cyberspace?
